The best and the worst

I had lunch yesterday with my coworker and mentor. Her husband who recently started working in downtown LA also ate with us. They are both Christians. We talked about random things, including marriage. Knowing I’d been married about a year, he asked me how I liked it. I thought a second and said, “It’s a lot harder than I thought it would be.” They laughed and said, “Well, that’s honest.”
“Marriage…it’s the best and it’s the worst,” he said.
“Same with kids,” said my mentor.
I’ll remember that.
