Coffee on Weekends

In the last year or so, I’ve become addicted to caffeine. It’s not really a psychological addiction, but a physical one. If I go more than 36 to 48 hours without caffeine, I start to get a bad headache. I used to think I was getting sick or was dehydrated, but I soon realized… I’m hooked.

So I tried to go without coffee on weekends, but I ended up feeling tired and sluggish, which might be OK since I don’t have to work, but there are other things I want to do on the weekends that require energy, such as clean the house.

Having just maniacally cleaned the kitchen and living room (which normally get my attention due to the pure fact that I spend the most time in these areas), I did all of the upstairs as well (two sinks and counters, toilet, bathtub), and had Dave lug the vacuum upstairs for the carpets which I don’t think have been vacuumed since June. I even feel motivated to clear out the one box that remains to be sorted since our move.

All thanks to coffee.

  • I hear that you lose 10 lbs when you quit coffee (if that factoid if of any pertinence).

  • Hmm… that sounds appealing, but I think the ability to think quickly at my job is more important for the time being. =P I wonder if the weight loss is due to the coffee itself or because of all the cream and sugar most people put in it…

  • it seems that the caffeine would increase your metabolism…so suddenly not having it might cause you to gain some weight initially.

but i don’t know for sure. just kinda makes sense.
