An Unexpected Change

My husband got a job! When he called me at work to tell me he got the offer less than 2 hours after his interview, I could not stop gushing for a half hour straight. He will be working at an internet startup starting on November 1. Goldstar is an e-commerce company and Dave will be their CSS guy. The benefits include free tickets to their many venues.
I am so proud of him. He could have given up on trying to break into a competitive new field where he has no formal training or credentials. He could have given in and worked as a postdoc at one of the many research labs or graduate programs that would surely snap up him and his PhD. I could have pressured him into doing any old job just to increase our income. But he did not settle, and now he will be a Web Developer (his dream title for now) and will get paid for doing something he loves. That’s two happy career-people in this household.
This, of course, bodes well for us financially, more than doubling our income, but it also means our weekday routine will change. I realized, despite my elation, that I will probably have to cook more and run more errands. Just think – since we’ve been married, I’ve been the sugar mama and Dave has been the house hubby. This is going to be a pretty big shift in lifestyle for us. And a pretty exciting one.
Please join me in congratulating Dave, now an official geek!
What are you doing blogging? Where’s my food, woman?!
congrats! i’m happy for the great turn of events.
Thanks! We’re very excited.
